7 Ways To Make Your Customers Feel Special And Appreciated

People love to be appreciated for what they do. Your customers are no exception. They want to feel appreciated by you and to be special. Don’t you love it when you walk into a restaurant that you frequently visit and the hostess knows your name? It is little gestures such as these that your customer wants to come back to you again and again. Here are 7 ways to make your customer feel special and appreciated:

1. Thank You Cards
A personal hand-written thank you card can go a long way. Many customers remember the thank you card they received and become repeat customers.

2. VIP Club
What says “I appreciate you” more than a VIP club? Your customers will feel elite knowing that they have exclusive information about special deals and offers.

3. Coupons
Offer coupons to customers who continuously purchase products or services from you. This is a great way to get them to purchase more frequently than they normally do.

4. Customer Appreciation Day
Have a customer appreciation day. Your customers will feel special that you set aside a day for them to be appreciated.

5. Rewards Programs
Who doesn’t like to be rewarded? Setting up a rewards program for your customers makes the money they spend with you worthwhile. This feeling is reciprocated with a reward.

6. Gifts
Everyone likes gifts! Customers will feel appreciated and special knowing you took the time to think about them with a present.

7. Know Something Personal About Your Customers
Knowing their birthday, asking about their family, or commenting on a special event shows that you take an interest in their lives. This shows your customers that they are more than dollar signs to you, they are people you care about.

  1. Kristen,

I send out Thank You and birthday cards to all my clients. Plus I get them in return…its really nice to receive and be the sender. Great ideas! I’ve got several that are coming up to 10 years assisting them and I’m in the works of doing something very special for them, but the program has not gone live…hoping soon though.

    • I would like to have a rewards program someday too. Never thought about birthday cards…that’s a good one! And yes, it’s always nice to be appreciated as well.

  2. Great ideas, Kristen — every one of them.

Everyone loves a gesture of appreciation. It’s simply human nature. We all need to find wonderful ways to show others we really care about them … customers and clients, too!

I’m a huge fan of handwritten notes and cards. Love to give them and get them!

  3. All great tips. I have had amazing replies to Thank you/Birthday/Welcome cards that I’ve sent in the past. I think it’s become an experience to get an actual handwritten card in the mail. You want personal touches? It doesn’t get much more personal than that! I have also used coupon and referrals rewards together with success. Combining ideas can make things interesting too!

  4. Cards are my all time favorite, they are personal and always leave an impression…somehow with the internet “attack”, cards are slowly losing their popularity.
Also, I have been on the receiving end of personalized SMS.. nice effort, as a customer I felt special!

    • Everyone likes to feel appreciated and so do your customers. It’s a wonderful feeling-isn’t it? Thanks for stopping by Hajra!
