My 2016 One Word Theme = Consistency

New Year Word Theme-MWIB

I’m sure you’ve seen the internet world buzzing with one word themes. I don’t know about you but I really take the time to think about what mine will be. For me, my one word theme is the key to everything that I want to accomplish for the year. For 2015, my one word theme was “Build”, and last year lived up to building (For more about my 2015 theme, check out that blog post here). I built a solid KR Design community and even started a community for military spouse entrepreneurs, the Military Women In Business Community. I also built a reputation as a Facebook Ads expert because that was the method I was growing my communities. As a result, I got hired to do Facebook Ads for online entrepreneurs who were launching online programs (very cool!). I even started building business guidelines around my own personal time and had 18 personal days off last year. Now that I’ve built a solid foundation for my business, I thought about what my one word theme should be for 2016 and what I should focus on.

2016 GoalsThe one thing that I loved was the wave of momentum that I was riding at the end of 2015. I loved how my business kept growing from the foundation that I built and I wanted it to keep going. I realized that in order to keep the wave going, I needed to be more consistent. And that’s how I chose my one word theme for 2016: consistency. I’m not going to lie; this is going to be one of the hardest one word themes to follow because I am terrible at being consistent. I make the best plans in the world to make time for tasks, I have the best “To-Do List” templates, but I always fall short (I’m not alone-right?). To make this easy on me, I decided that if I was going to be truly consistent, I could only be consistent at a few big things. When you have many things going on, it’s hard to be consistent.

What am I going to be consistent at? Well, a couple of big things come to mind: having more “me” time and having fun. These two go hand in hand and if there’s anything I learned last year it’s that you can’t have too much fun and enough “me” time as an entrepreneur. My first step is half days on Fridays and spend half of the day doing something that I enjoy. It could be as simple as reading a book or seeing a movie with a friend. And for having more fun? My husband and I have re-discovered bowling and we go about twice per month but that’s going to change this year (well, as soon as he knee gets better).
