Marketing for your event can be a big, huge daunting task but it is essential for drawing participants. Your vendors depend on customers for sales and the local economy stands to benefit from tourists and publicity. Whether you are a seasoned event planner or a novice, here are a couple of tips to make your event a successful one.
1. Plan Ahead
The more you plan ahead, the greater chances of success for your event. This is especially true if the event is being planned by a committee. The planning should begin a year from the event date. This allows ample time to gather sponsorships, vendors, and information about events that will be held around the date of your event.
2. Gather Staff or Volunteers
An event is too big for any one person to handle. It is best to have your own staff (paid or volunteer) divided into teams and have tasks delegated. When assigning tasks, it is imperative that you manage your team but do not micromanage. Always thank your staff for their hard work and appreciate them for a job well done!
3. Don’t Lose Sight of the Goal
In the midst of the chaos , we sometimes lose sight of why this event is happening. Remind yourself and your staff why this event is being held and the mission of the organization if it is a fundraiser for a nonprofit organization. Keeping the goal and mission in mind gives you a purpose, makes the planning less stressful, and more fun!
