Yes, it’s official: I did not get stumped! Hooray!
KR Design’s Social Media Dare Night was May 17 and it was a great event! Participants from various industries came to this special Q&A session to learn more about social media and how it can help grow their business. It was so much fun. I was thrilled at the questions that were thrown at me and I was amazed at how much they wanted to know. The greatest feeling came over me knowing that I was helping people solve mysteries about social media. I will admit that some questions were pretty tricky and I almost got stumped. But with every experience in life, I took away a very precious lesson or two…
Always be prepared!
Most my preparation focused on Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter but I did some research on Foursquare and third party applications. My study time was very extensive but I wanted to make sure that I could handle any question thrown my way. I was also able to give suggestions and reviews on certain products because I had studied them.
Learning goes both ways
I know my attendees won’t believe this but I learned as much from them as they learned from me. I learned what they’re biggest frustrations and concerns were with social media and how they dealt with them. This is important as a business owner because you want to know what your target market’s biggest pain is. But to hear it directly from my participants and how it affects their business really struck a chord for me. Now I’m going to go back and revamp some of the products and services I offer to better serve my market.
Will I have another Social Media Dare Night? Absolutely! I also encourage you to have a Q&A session with your customers as well. Feedback is a great tool for marketing but it’s fun when you do it in a relaxed environment where you’re providing value to your clients.
How do you gather feedback from your customers? Let us know in the comments section below!

Yeah you didn’t get stumped!
What a fantastic event and it sounds like you gave so much content!
I, too learn so much from my clients and participants. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for stopping by Maureen! I enjoyed it very much and will be doing it again soon!
All in a days work! Sign of relief on your end til the next DARE night challenge. Both sides (host and participant) gain from any informational gathering event. Win, Win!
Definitely a win-win, Veronica! Maybe I’ll see you at the next one?
Congratulations on not getting stumped and thanks for sharing how it went! I get feedback by asking in surveys, on social media, in newsletters, through blog posts. I think it’s a great idea to have a Q & A session though and I might just have to do that!
I definitely encourage Leanne! It was so powerful to hear it directly from them and to be face-to-face.
I can’t wait until the next one!
The dare night was a wonderful idea. I am so glad you had one. I really wish my question would have stumped you. 🙂 I will make sure to find a harder question next time. Overall, the information shared was outstanding; I learned a lot of new things. Thanks again for having it.
Our main feedback comes from asking the customers directly. We also use surveys, social media, and fliers.
Awesome Dan! You do need to get occasional feedback. Thank you so much for coming and it was YOUR idea!
It was successful and maybe at the next one, you’ll get me! 🙂
So glad your class went so well!! Yay for you!
You have inspired me to get off my duff and do some teleseminars. I don’t know why I’ve been putting this off because the info obtained is invaluable. Thanks for inspiring me!
Oh wow, thanks Martha! I’m glad I could be inspiring. I’ve realized that people are hungry for information and
presented the right way, they’ll use it. Especially when it pertains to them and they’re situation. I had a lot of fun
doing it and can’t wait for the next one. I feel honored that I was an inspiration to you! 🙂
Hi Kristen,
Congrats on hosting your Social Media Dare Night! Sounds like you pulled it off without a hitch. So, tell me …
What did you “dare” your listeners to do? Nothing risky, I hope. 🙂
LOL, I dared them to ask me their most toughest, most confusing social media question.
It was a lot of fun and I can’t wait to do another one!
So often I find at least one nugget, and sometimes more, hidden within a coaching session with my clients. Working with them elevates my own awareness. Witnessing their courage as they break through blocks and eliminate what no longer serves them inspires me. I hold the space and they create the miracles. Creating this kind of reciprocal relationship elevates everyone…how wonderful you are so confident and open to allow this in your relationship with clients!
Thanks Tambre! I had so much fun and can’t wait to do it again.
Isn’t it amazing what you learn from your clients?
Kristen this is an awesome idea in sharing information, having others participate in an event where they gain so much knowledge and gets their questions answered. It sure beats sending out a survey which is what I do every few months.
Can I find out what platform you use to hold your event? Thank you for sharing your experience and it really sounds like it was so valuable for your visitors and for you as well.
Lynn, this was a face-to-face event. The next time, I will definitely be doing this online.
I’ll let you know what I used and how I set it up. I wanted to see how the event went first
before I did an online component.
This was such a stellar idea, Kristen, and I knew it was going to be a success! I’m especially impressed with how much time you spent preparing. That’s so important and something people overlook. Your humility really shines there, both mentioning that you took the time to study (instead of thinking that you knew everything) and also that you learned a lot from your audience. This sounds like a perfect way to get feedback from your community.
Thanks so much for sharing this success story, Kristen! Please let me know about your next session! =) I’d love to attend and contribute!
Thanks Samantha! I wanted to make sure that the attendees got all their questions answered.
I’m hoping for the next one, I’ll stream it online and thinking of taking questions from attendees online.
I’ll keep you in the loop!
Awesome idea, you brave girl! Sounds very cool! I need to do something like this!
I think everyone should! It was a lot of fun. Thanks for stopping by Jen!
So glad you found success with your dare night. Brave girl..I got nervous for you just thinking about it! lol Congrats!
Thanks Bonnie! It was fun and thanks for calling me brave. 🙂
I was extremely nervous!
Hi Kristen,
Congratulations and glad to hear that everything went well! I am glad you shared that being prepared help you tremendously. I love what you said about getting from readers. I have one question: were you nervous? I would like to do a Q&A but I just feel a bit intimidated by the process 🙂
Yes Diana, I was extremely nervous! I spent most of the reading and studying.
I also thought about what people ask me about most, which is Facebook so I concentrated
mostly on Facebook for studying. Now that I’ve done it, I know I have a target on my back.
This is such a brilliant idea.. Congrats. 🙂 It is so true that to learn success you must be the teacher and the student. 🙂
Lynne
Thanks, it was a lot of fun and I did learn a lot. Can’t wait until the next one!
Sorry that I could not have been there. It sounds like a lot of fun.
It was! I’ll be doing another one soon and I’m hoping to stream it online! Then you can ask me questions as well.
