7 Businesses Military Spouses Can Start TODAY!

7 Businesses Military Spouses Can Start Blog Post2As a military spouse, one of the most challenging factors is our career. Speaking to other military spouses, I see a trend: we get this really great job and then we have to give it up when we move. Or even worse (and in my experience), you get a part-time job that doesn’t utilize the skills or any of your past work experience. You’re really just doing it to bring in more money to do the “fun things” for your family.

A year after I married my husband, I came to this fork in my career path. I could keep having part-time or full-time jobs in every duty station we were at and collect job experience or I could start my own business and be my own boss at home. I liked the second option A LOT! I was so tired of working for someone else and building their dream. I wanted to be in control of what I did wherever we ended up. After working out our finances, I started my business, KR Design, in 2010.

I realize that many military spouses may want to start a business but just don’t know where to start. A question I hear frequently is “What kind of business do I start?” The truth is, it’s up to you. What do you enjoy doing? What are you good at? So, I thought I’d list 7 businesses military spouses can start right away and maybe you’ll come up with some ideas of your own. Continue reading

Social Media Secrets: Be Consistent

KR Design Monday Marketing Minute reveals another top secret to get more clients using social media! Check it out!

Posted by KR Design on Monday, June 22, 2015

Many people ask me how to get more engagement from social media from their fans and followers. Truth be told, there’s really only 5 basic social media secrets you need to know. The second one is to be consistent.

Being consistent is the foundation of getting social media marketing to work for your business. The more consistent you are, the more your audience can count on good content coming from you. And if you want to take it further, what does that say about your business if you’re consistent with your social media posts? Here are a couple of additional reasons why being consistent is important…

  • You really don’t know if your social media marketing is working until about 90 days to 6 months. If you give up too soon, you’ll never know if it was working or not.
  • It’s so much harder to start back up once you stop. You have to re-train your audience to getting used to seeing content from you.

So, about that last point. I have personally experienced that one. We started the KR Design Marketing Minute back in 2010. It wasn’t consistent after 2011 and we kept re-starting and stopping in 2011 and 2012. Now that it’s 2015, it’s a lot harder to get people to watch the videos and can you imagine if we stayed consistent during those 5 years? I know, it pains me to think about it! Check out the KR Design Monday Marketing Minute video and let us know how you’ll be consistent with your social media marketing in your business!
